Nora Tataryan is currently a PhD student and a Connaught Scholar at the Women & Gender Studies Institute, University of Toronto. She completed her Master’s degree in Cultural Studies at Sabanci University (Istanbul) and her Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at Galatasaray University (Istanbul) and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Interested in aesthetics, feminist philosophy, psychoanalysis and race studies, her doctoral research is focused on the aesthetics of otherness and the representation of Armenian women’s bodies in (post)genocidal Turkey. Besides having presented her research internationally and published her work in academic and non-academic journals, she has also made two documentaries and worked as an art director on several short films.

Nora is interested in aesthetics, feminist philosophy, psychoanalysis and race studies, her doctoral research is focused on the aesthetics of otherness and the representation of Armenian women’s bodies in (post)genocidal Turkey.
