Admissions
There is no formal application process required to enrol in the Women and Gender Studies Program. Enrolment in the Specialist, Major, and Minor programs in Women and Gender Studies is open to students who have completed four courses; no minimum GPA required. Students enrol in undergraduate courses at the University of Toronto via ROSI, the Repository of Student Information. For details, please consult your college registrar’s office.
Students are responsible for reading the Faculty of Arts and Science Calendar to ensure that they do not attempt to enrol in courses for which they do not have the prerequisites. In addition, students should pay careful attention to courses with exclusions.
During enrolment periods, students must consult the Faculty of Arts and Science Registration Handbook and Timetable for enrolment procedures and restrictions on Women and Gender Studies undergraduate courses.
Requirements
Specialist Program
Students wishing to do a Women and Gender Studies Specialist Program must successfully complete the equivalent to 10 full courses, including at least five 300+ series full-course equivalents, in a twenty-course degree program, fulfilling ALL of the following requirements:
- WGS 160Y
- WGS 262H
- WGS 460Y and one additional full-course equivalent at the 400-level *
- 4.5 additional full-course equivalents from the core group
- Two additional full-course equivalents from Group A or B
*Balloting application deadline for WGS 460Y: May 15, 2011
Major Program
Students wishing to do a Women and Gender Studies Major Program must successfully complete the equivalent to seven full courses, including at least three 300+ series full-course equivalents, with at least one half course at the 400-level, in a fifteen-course degree program, fulfilling ALL of the following requirements:
- WGS 160Y and WGS 262H
- 3.5 additional full-course equivalents from the core group
- Two additional full-course equivalents from Group A or B
Minor Program
Students wishing to do a Women and Gender Studies Minor Program must successfully complete the equivalent to four full-course equivalents, including at least one full 300+ series course, fulfilling ALL of the following requirements:
- WGS 160Y or one of WGS 271H/ WGS 272H/ WGS 273Y
- Three additional full-course equivalents (with WGS 273Y) from the core group or Group A; OR 3.5 additional full-course equivalents (with WGS 271H or WGS 272H) from the core group or Group A
