City of Toronto Women Studies Undergraduate Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time/part-time student entering their 4th year of study who is enrolled in a major or specialist program in Women and Gender Studies.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit to the student deemed most likely to contribute to studies on the status of women, community studies and public policy, including studies in the areas of transportation, housing, urban planning, employment, public works and municipal services.

Applicants are required to complete a City of Toronto Women Studies Scholarship application form and submit a resume, two letters of reference, a sample of written work and a ROSI academic transcript.

Women and Gender Studies Grant

Awarded on the basis of need to full-time or part-time, graduate or undergraduate Women and Gender Studies students. Applicants are required to complete a University of Toronto Undergraduate Grant Application form and supply names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of two referees.

Toronto Women’s Bookstore Prize*

Awarded for an essay or project displaying excellence in studies related to black women, aboriginal women, or women from Asia, Africa, the Pacific, and Central and South America. Students enrolled in any Women and Gender Studies course are eligible.

The Jewish Immigrant Mothers Prize (New College)*

Awarded for an essay on a subject connected with contributions made to society by immigrant women.

The Elsie Gregroy MacGill Prize (St. George Campus)

Awarded to the most outstanding student graduating with a Specialist or Major degree in Women and Gender Studies.

The Helen Gregory MacGill Prize (St. George Campus)

Awarded to the student who achieves the highest standing in WGS160Y or WGS261Y.

*Application Procedure

Please submit two clean (unmarked) copies of your essay. We require separate title pages for each copy. The first title page should list the prize name, the essay title, and the student’s personal contact information. The second title page should list the essay title only. Submit your essay(s) to the Women and Gender Studies Program Office, Room 2036, Wilson Hall, New College.
