General Information

Program Counselling

Both the Undergraduate Coordinator and Undergraduate Administrator can provide advice and guidance to students with regard to course selection, program requirements, program assessments, petitioned courses, and transfer credits. Students are welcome to visit the WGSI Program Office, Room 2036, Wilson Hall, New College. The Program Office is open Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00 p.m.

Petitioned Courses

Courses that are not listed in the program but in which at least 50% of the course content and assignments are about women or gender relations may be petitioned for credit towards a Women and Gender Studies degree. Consult the Undergraduate Administrator for details of the petition process. The Petition for Women’s Studies Credit form is available from the Women and Gender Studies Program Office.

Unclaimed Tests/Essays

Essays and term work left in Room 2035 (next to the Program Office) are to be picked up by the student and will be retained only until the end of the subsequent academic session; they are then disposed of by the Women and Gender Studies Institute.

Master’s Degree Program in Women and Gender Studies (MWGS)

The Women and Gender Studies Institute offers a Master’s Program in Women and Gender Studies. Interested students should contact the Graduate Administrator.  Detailed information regarding application procedures, eligibility, program requirements and funding can be found here.

Ph.D. Program in Women and Gender Studies (PWGS)

The Women and Gender Studies Institute will be launching the PhD Program in Women and Gender Studies as of the 2013-2014 academic year.  Check the WGSI website for application instructions and eligibility requirements:  http://www.wgsi.utoronto.ca/graduate/applications.
